Camp brings kids, good deeds and fun together

St. Mary of the Lake Parish Bible Camp was recently held at Holy Family School, Lakewood, for children in kindergarten through sixth grade. The Bible camp idea was spearheaded in the parish many years ago by Deacon Tony Martucci, who says it's still going strong with 127 children registered this year. Each day was filled with activities, scripture, drama, crafts, songs, and more. Some of the children raised money by selling iced tea in their neighborhood and other activities, with funds being donated to the parish's St. Vincent DePaul Society, along with food donations that were collected during camp week. The children also made a Prayer Bear to share with needy children. At the conclusion of the week, all the children and staff members gathered for Mass at Holy Family Church to sing songs they learned at Bible camp and to visit with the friends they met during the week.
