Consider how town could have used money
What could a township do with half a million dollars? Let's think about this. If the township just happened to be Jackson, maybe they could have used this money to spray for gypsy moths so thousands of trees would not have been destroyed.

Now mind you, you wouldn't have had to even use it all, since the federal government would have reimbursed us for half.

Maybe you could use that money toward securing an exclusive advanced life support paramedic unit 24/7 in Jackson, thus protecting residents' lives.

Maybe you could have used that money to make sure there were enough bus personnel so parents and kids didn't have to rearrange their lives, and start and finish times for our school children would have remained as they were in the past.

Perhaps half a million dollars could be used to expand the food pantry since a fire forced them to relocate to the Department of Public Works, which has cramped quarters and limited parking.

One way, for sure, that a township should not use this amount of money is by spending it on two basketball courts, not to mention that the contract for these courts was awarded after receiving only one bid.

We were hoping for responsible fiscal management but what we got was not anything even remotely resembling that. So how would you spend almost half a million dollars?
