Resident says silent majority stands behind board
There has been a concerted and vicious effort by a small group of people who were outvoted in the last Plumsted Board of Education election. Their agenda has been to pressure the board into doing what they want, rather than what the voters mandated and what is best for the community.

This "vocal minority" has done their level best to put extreme, undue pressure on these board members who are simply attempting to fulfill the will of the public who elected them. Our board officials live in and are part of our community. They volunteer a significant amount of time, effort and expertise because they care deeply about our community and educational excellence.

Yes, it has always been said that elected officials must have a thick skin. However, it is time for this vocal minority to start thinking of what the community wants and needs instead of their selfish closed-minded agendas.

This vocal minority has put excessive pressure on the current board to hire who they want for many key positions. They are coming from a place of fear instead of possibility. They are happier with the

devil that they know" rather than allowing the board members to do their job and hire the best possible candidate for the job.

I want the board to know that the broad community - the silent majority who elected you - is behind you and wants you to be successful. We want the best qualified employees in our district. We support your being strong and not folding to the pressure of a few people that clearly have an agenda.

We know how trying this must be on you, your family, your friends and your children. Please know that this community elected you. We support you. We believe you are doing the right thing for the community, as well as for the education and future of the students.

Finally, to the vocal minority who has attempted to make the lives of the board members a living hell - it is time to back off. You are not accomplishing your goal. Rather, you are making yourselves look bad and hurting the children of this community both by blocking the board members from doing the job they were elected to do and by setting a really bad example for the kids.

Let the board members do what they were elected by this community to do. Let them do their jobs.
