Harvest fest set for Nov. 4 PLUMSTED - The annual Fall Harvest Festival will be held on Nov. 4 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on portions of Main Street and Evergreen Road. Main Street's fall festival will provide family fun and entertainment for all ages with no admission fee and all rides for children are free. In addition to arts and crafts vendor displays, there will be a preview of Plumsted's first winery and vineyard farm, Laurita Winery, that is scheduled to open to the public in the spring. Laurita Winery will provide a free wine tasting at the festival from grapes grown and harvested on Plumsted's first grape vineyard farm. The outdoor exposition venue also includes Eastern Mountain Sporting Goods; and fishing/canoe clinics from the township's future and newest waterfront park site on Evergreen Road. The New Egypt Main Street Organization has planned this year's Fall Harvest Festival to be a street festival by directing traffic off and around the closed portion of Main Street (from Church Street to Brindletown Road). The closed portion of Evergreen Road for Fall Harvest Festival events will be from Fort Avenue to Main Street. Traffic will be directed down North Main Street, onto Church Street, Front Street and Brindletown Road to access the open portion of Main Street and across the Main Street Bridge. The Plumsted Business Merchants Association will host a Business Fair on Nov. 3 at the New Egypt Elks building, 105 Lakewood Road, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The annual flu shot clinic will be held on Nov. 7 at the first aid squad building, 32 Brynmore Road, from 1-2 p.m. The annual free rabies clinic for dogs and cats is scheduled for Nov. 10 at the firehouse, 59 Main St., from 3-5 p.m. Mayor Ron Dancer said Ocean County Freeholder Director Jack Kelly has informed township officials that a grant application to the Ocean County Shade Tree Commission has been approved and Plumsted will receive six redspire pear trees to be planted at the new park site on Evergreen Road. Additionally, the county presented Plumsted with a $4,407 check from the county's recycling revenue sharing program. |
