Rotary event proves fun for special needs people

Contests, prizes, food and fun made for an enjoyable day for all who attended the Jackson Rotary Club's annual picnic and fishing tournament for special needs children and adults. The event, initiated by the late Steven Kitay, was held at the residence of his son, Peter Kitay.

The highlight of the day, a fishing tournament, drew many participants. Prizes were awarded in various "fish" categories, including largest, fattest, cutest, ugliest, most likeable and most kissable. Rotary Club President Warner Rivera distributed "fish-nic" T-shirts to those who took part in the tournament.

Under the supervision of Jackson Memorial High School teacher Maria Holm, members of the Interact Club, a subsidiary of the Rotary Club for students at JMHS, assisted Rotary Club members in awarding 50 prizes in all.
