New EMS director appointed LAKEWOOD - Scott Carter has been appointed as the new director of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) for Lakewood. Carter has a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing (BSN) from Richard Stockton College and was the former nursing coordinator to MONOC (Monmouth-Ocean Hospital Services) EMS after the merger of the Saint Barnabas Healthcare System. In addition to the merging of the facilities, Carter had direct oversight of the nursing staff and daily operations of the critical care division as well as leading the development of the air medical program and clinical education departments at MONOC. "Mr. Carter brings a solid background in emergency medicine as well as superior management skills to our township and we are very pleased he will be working for our Lakewood community," Mayor Raymond Coles said. As well as his experience in specialty care transport services, in 1991, Carter served as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserve Nursing Corps with the 348th General Deployable Hospital. Carter was promoted to first lieutenant before his retirement from the Reserve in 2002. "I look forward to working in Lakewood and increasing on-site education for our EMS staff and redeveloping the EMS Web site for the staff and community," Carter said. As well as these goals, Carter hopes to offer additional community speaking engagements to township organizations and "fostering educational goals for our EMS staff," according to a press release. |
