Howell High School art teacher earns grant

John Carey, a Howell High School art teacher, has been awarded a $1,000 grant from the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation. The money will be used for a guest speaker and to increase the figure drawing capabilities of the art department. Carey has received nine mini-grants for the school's fine arts programs since being awarded a $5,000 Dodge Summer Initiative Artist/Educator Grant to pursue and document his own work as a painter in 1998.
