Augustine "Gus" P. Tambini Sr.

Mr. Tambini, 86, of Edison, died Dec. 7, 2007, at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he resided in Metuchen for 48 years prior to relocating to Edison three years ago. He was employed at Ford Motor Co., Edison, retiring in 1982. Following his retirement, he was a crossing guard in Metuchen for 10 years. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a parishioner of St. Francis Cathedral, Metuchen, and a fourth-degree member of the Middlesex Council Knights of Columbus Council 857, Woodbridge. Mr. Tambini coached Metuchen Little League and Pop Warner football. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Grace Jasper Tambini; two sons and daughtersin law, Peter and Cathy Tambini of Edison, and Gus and Sharon Tambini Jr. of Jackson; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joanie and Tony Baskakow of the Fords section of Woodbridge, and Christine and Tom McCann of Edison; a sister, Maria Tambini of Brooklyn; and seven grandchildren.Afuneral liturgy was celebrated at St. Francis Cathedral, followed by entombment at Resurrection Burial Park, Piscataway. Arrangements were by Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, Metuchen. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2600 Route 1, North Brunswick, NJ 08902.
