Dayton E. Lewis

Mr. Lewis, 83, of Howell, died Dec. 17, 2007, at CareOne at Jackson. He was born in Hunlock Creek, Pa., and had lived in the Parlin section of Sayreville and the Laurence Harbor section of Old Bridge before moving to Howell in 1962. Prior to retiring in 1982,Mr. Lewis was a gateline welder for FordMotor Co.,Metuchen, for 30 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in the European theater during World War II. His wife, Evelyn Lewis, died Jan. 4, 2008. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Dayton E. and Barbara Lewis of Howell; two sisters, Leona Guild of New York and Elda Smith of Hunlock Creek; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township, with the Rev. Dan Brindley officiating. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery, Farmingdale.
