Pinelanders Youth Soccer Club, Howell, is accepting registrations for the spring 2008 season. This is a recreational program: games are played on the club's fields Friday evenings or Saturday mornings. Registration is open to boys and girls who will be ages 4-18 on April 1, 2008; birth certificates are required at registration. Girls 5-18 can choose all-girl or co-ed soccer. The fee is $40 per player, $80 max per family. There are no residency restrictions.

Interested players can register now at www.pinelanders.com, or come to a registration session at Howell Middle School North, Squankum-Yellowbrook Road, Howell, on Friday, Jan. 18, 7-9 p.m. (use rear entrance) or Saturday, June 19, 9-11 a.m. (front entrance). If the Saturday session is canceled, there will be an alternate session on Saturday, Jan. 26, same time and place.

Jackson Women's Softball Over 30 League will hold spring registration Jan. 12 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Jackson Municipal Building. The cost is $50. For further information, e-mail Lynn Brand at Brandmom@optonline.net or call (732) 928-8290.

The Jackson Lady Strikers, U9 girls travel soccer team, just completed a very successful fall season in MOSA (Monmouth Ocean Soccer Association), where they placed first in the U9 Premier 2 division. They finished their league season 9-1 and had five shutouts. They had 24 goals for and only six goals against. They will be inMOSA's U9 Premier Flight against the other U9 division winners for spring 2008. In tournament play for this season, they went 2-0-2 at the Jackson Summer Classic, 3-1 at theWall Fall Classic, and 1-3 against some tough teams at the Howell Holiday Cup. They end the fall season with a record of 15-5-2 and eight shutouts.
