Orientation and practice test for GED offered
      The Lakewood Community School is accepting registration for the GED orientation and practice test to be held at Lakewood High School on Feb. 19 from 6:30-8:30 pm. The fee is $15 and the practice test will be scored on the same night to determine the areas where additional study is needed.

Girl Scouts come to the aid of homeless animals
      Girl Scout Troop 45, Sassafras Service Unit in Jackson, held a collection for the animals at the Northern Ocean Animal Shelter in Jackson. Troop members collected hundreds of dollars' worth of new and gently used items.
