5 residents seek seats on board

JACKSON- Five residents have filed petitions to run for a seat on the Jackson Board of Education. There will be two seats available in the April 15 school election. The terms are for three years.

Current board members Michael R. Hanlon and Barbara Fiero will seek reelection to the panel which oversees the operation of the Jackson K-12 School District.

Sal Duscio and Scott D. Sargent, both of whom have run for a seat on the school board in the past, will again seek election.

Howard S. Tilis has also filed a petition to run for the board. Tilis, who is a former resident of Marlboro, has previous experience serving on a school board.

Polls will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. April 15. The Jackson school board has seven members.

When they go to the polls to select board members, voters will also be asked to cast a ballot on the local tax levy to support the 2008-09 school year budget. The board was expected to introduce that budget this week.
