Fight continues to defeat multiple sclerosis
March 10-17, MS Awareness Week, is a time to take action. As someone who lives with the daily unpredictability of multiple sclerosis, I want to let the people of this community know why fundraisers such as the Walk MS event scheduled for April 13 in Belmar, Hamilton and throughout the state are so important.

Just 20 years ago medical practitioners had little to offer people diagnosed with MS.

There were no FDA-approved medications and no treatments proven to ease symptoms that can range from tremors and fatigue to blindness and paralysis.

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Mid-Jersey Chapter, address the challenges of each person affected by MS by funding cutting-edge research, driving change through advocacy, facilitating professional education, collaborating with MS organizations around the world, and providing programs and services designed to help people with MS and their families move their lives forward.

Today, people diagnosed with MS face much better prospects. There are six FDA-approvedmedications currently on the market that can slow disease progression, and more are on the way.

What's more, the National MS Society is always offering programs and expanding services designed to help people like me overcome the challenges of the disease.

Much of this progress has been made possible by the funds raised through Walk MS. Every hour of every day, another person is diagnosed with MS. Please get involved in the fight to create a world free of MS by visiting our team at www.teambam.org or calling our localMS chapter office at (732) 660-1005.

We are people who want to do something aboutMS now, and are dedicated to achieving a world free of MS. Join the Movement!
