Strand will host summer workshops

LAKEWOOD - The Strand Theater will host its fifth summer theater youth workshop program in July. This year the workshop has been broken down into two separate two-week sessions. Each twoweek session will offer a trip to New York City to see a Broadway matinee.

Session I will be held from July 7 through July 18. Session II will run from July 21 through Aug. 1.

In addition to the two sessions, children ages 6-13 from either group are invited to take part in the Missoula Children's Theatre production of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs."

Missoula week will be held as a bonus week Aug. 4-8 with two shows on Aug. 9. That week will be free of charge due to the 21st Century Community Learning Grant. The Lakewood Public School summer program will also be involved.All students enrolled will have a role and/or involvement in the Missoula production, according to a press release.

The theater workshops will be instructed by professional/accredited teachers, experienced actors/directors and professional theater staff. Students will study essential musical theater skills including acting, singing, movement, auditioning, improvisation and dance.

The fee is $395 per child per session. The discounted rate to attend both camps is $695. Sessions will be held from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
