James K. Shea Jr.

Mr. Shea, 80, of Monmouth Beach, died April 1, 2008, at St. Barnabas Hospice at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. He was Rumson Chief of Police, retiring in 1980 after 29 years' service. He was a member of theMonmouth County Police Chiefs Association, and FBI National Academy Association. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joan Dangler Shea; two daughters and one son-in-law, Joan and John Clark of Shark River Hills, and Dorothy Hill of Plano, Texas; four sons and daughters-in-law, James K. and Dossie Shea III of Virginia Beach, Va., Roderic and Susan Shea of Jackson, and Frederick and Joy Shea, and Timothy and Robin Shea, all of Oceanport; three sisters, Doloris MacConnachie of Monmouth Beach, Margaret Connor of Rumson, and Elizabeth Anderson of Middletown; a brother, John Shea of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; 20 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Church of the Precious Blood, Monmouth Beach. Interment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery Mausoleum, Middletown. Arrangements were by ThompsonMemorial Home, Red Bank. Memorial donations may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, c/o Courtney Hill, 651 Leading Lane, Allen, TX 75002.
