Civic Chorus to celebrate anniversary JACKSON- The Jackson Civic Chorus will present its 10th anniversary concert, "Music of the Decades," onMay 17 at 8 p.m. andMay 18 at 3 p.m. at the JacksonUnited Methodist Church, 68 Bennett Mills Road. The suggested donation for tickets is $7 for general admission and $5 for seniors and students. For more information call (609) 336-7767. The chorus is celebrating a decade of presenting music to Jackson and the surrounding communities. In keeping with the celebration of the decade, director Jason Diaz has created a programofmusic representing the decades from 1920 to the present. All are welcome to celebrate as the chorus, supported by piano accompanist Will Vanderburg, transports the audience across the years with an array of selections. Among the selections will be "American Heroes: A Salute to the Armed Forces" featuring the anthems of the Navy, Air Force, Marines andArmy; "Defying Gravity" from the Broadway musical "Wicked"; a medley fromthe Broadway show "Jersey Boys," including "Oh What a Night," "Stay" and "Can't Take My Eyes Off You"; a medley of "Chattanooga Choo-Choo" and "On the Atchison, Topeka and the Santa Fe"; "For the Beauty of the Earth" and "Prayer of the Children." The chorus will be joined by the Jackson Civic Youth Chorus, a select group of seventh to ninth-grade students from Jackson. The youth chorus will perform selections on its own and will join the civic chorus for the finale. |
