Public invited to watch radio controlled planes
Irepresent the Ocean County Modelers, an organization of radio-controlled model airplane enthusiasts that meets at 7:30 p.m. in the lower level of the Manchester town hall on the fourth Wednesday of the month. Our club has access to an abandoned landfill site, courtesy of the township of Jackson, which we put to good use as a flying field.

I am writing to express our sincere gratitude to the Earle Companies, whose main office is in Farmingdale with a branch site on Hope Chapel Road in Jackson. Recently this company donated the time, equipment and expertise to roll our field in preparation for flying. Again, we are very grateful.

The public is invited to watch our members fly their airplanes at our field on most days of summer and almost always on weekends. On May 17 there will be a competition among the better flyers.

The directions to our field are as follows: from RidgewayAvenue in Jackson (Ocean County Road 571) turn into Lakehurst Avenue. Go exactly 1.1 miles. Turn right into a small unmarked road which is at a point opposite the midpoint between mail boxes number 916 and 906 on the left side of the road. As another landmark, there is an old rusty anchor at the side of the road directly opposite our driveway.

There is no admission to this event and we are always seeking new members.
