Soccer tourney to benefit vest fund JACKSON - A soccer tournament will be held on Aug. 9 to raise funds for the Jackson Policemen's Benevolent Association vest account. Jackson Police Officer John Pejoski, a member of PBA Local No. 168, said, "This account was established by the Jackson Police Department to purchase bulletproof vests for police officers." The event will begin at 5 p.m. at the Jackson Justice Complex soccer field, Jackson Drive, off West Veterans Highway. "There are four teams slated to participate in the event. These teams are the New Jersey Strikers, the New York Police Department Enforcers, the Philadelphia Police Department and a team comprised of local high school graduates," he said. Admission for spectators will be free. To date, the event is being sponsored by Jackson ShopRite, Gifford's Ice Cream, and Andy Weinstein State Farm of Jackson. Pejoski is asking local business owners to help sponsor the event with donations that would be used to assist the PBA in its endeavor to draw spectators to the soccer match and to raise funds for the vest account. For more information, call John Pejoski at 732-928-1111, ext. 2243, or 732- 620-3958. Pejoski may also be reached by e-mail at jpejoski@jacksonsd.k12.nj.us. |
