Magician wows Surrey Downs social club

Members of the Surrey Downs social club in Howell were treated to a bagel brunch with a magical theme on June 28.

The morning event was capped off when Mark H. Wurst, a magician from Manahawkin, performed an Atlantic Citystyle cabaret magic show with a lot of comedy and audience participation.

"Mr. Wurst put on a very funny and entertaining program," said club President Francine Crifasi.

Wurst started doing magic shows at the age of 13. A student of magic from the age of 5, he learned most of his tricks from his father, Howard Wurst, also a performing magician. Since the early 1990s the younger Wurst has performed for hundreds of senior citizens organizations and specializes in family entertainment.

"As a performer I could not have asked for a better audience. They were warm and friendly and truly wanted to participate in the experience," Wurst said.
