MOMS Club collects school items

PLUMSTED — The annual fall service project for the local MOMS Club is collecting school supplies for children who may not have the financial means to have more than the basics offered at the school.

With the cooperation of local businesses, the MOMS Club has donation bins located at the following downtown New Egypt stores: the New Egypt Market Place, the CVS Pharmacy, Taster's Canvas Deli, and the Broken Porch. Among the items being donated are notebooks, calculators, backpacks, pens, pencils, notepads and crayons, etc.

In other news, the annual flu shot clinic has been scheduled for 1-2 p.m. Nov. 5 at the New Egypt First Aid Squad building.

The next event in the Plumsted Council for the Arts summer series is "After Katrina," featuring photos, food and music of New Orleans on Aug. 22 at the Welcome Center, 31 Main St., New Egypt, from 7-9 p.m.

"Cruz Nite," featuring a display of classic and antique cars, returns to Main Street, New Egypt, on Aug. 14 and Sept. 11 from 6-9 p.m.

The Township Committee will meet at 8 p.m. Sept. 3.
