Triathlon to aid domestic violence survivors

Dottie's House will hold its first triathlon Oct. 12 at Island Beach State Park in Seaside Park. The last triathlon held at this venue was over 12 years ago. The triathlon will include swimming, running and biking to raise money for domestic violence survivors. Those who prefer not to swim can enter the duathlon.

The triathlon fee is $65. Three-member teams for the triathlon are $90 and twomember teams for the duathlon are $60. There are also various sponsorships available from $100 to $2,500. Details and registration: 856-858-7835 or www.dqtridu.com/islandBeach.htm.

Dottie's House, a 17-unit apartment facility, provides housing and support services along with a training program to women and children who are survivors of domestic violence. The nonprofit transitional housing program is designed to empower these women to gain emotional and financial independence and break the generational cycle of domestic violence.
