Humanitarian awards presented at May gala LAKEWOOD — Several hundred friends, supporters, staff and physicians of Kimball Medical Center turned out recently to enjoy an exciting evening at the Woodlake Country Club in Lakewood. Guests of the Kimball Medical Center Foundation's "Murder on the Orient Express" gala held on May 9 were treated to an evening filled with great food, dancing and entertainment. All proceeds from the event will be used to support initiatives at Kimball Medical Center. Caryl Russo, vice president of the Kimball Medical Center Foundation, said, "Our annual gala is a fabulous evening where we can get together with our donors and supporters, and raise needed funds which enable Kimball to continue to provide state-of-the-art health care services to our community." The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Kimball Humanitarian Awards, presented to individuals who provide extraordinary leadership and support to Kimball Medical Center. Jackson resident Nina Anuario, senior vice president from OceanFirst Bank; Lakewood resident and Kimball Foundation board member Fran Kirschner of Frantasy Enterprises; Lakewood resident and Lakewood Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Maureen Stankowitz; and Kimball Emergency Department Medical Director William Dalsey, M.D., and the staff of the Emergency Medical Associates were this year's humanitarian award recipients. Anuario currently serves as president of the board of the Ocean County Vocational Technical School Board of Education, is an active member of the Ocean County College Foundation Board of Trustees, and is a member of the advisory board of the Jersey Shore Council Boy Scouts. Kirschner is currently the president of Frantasy Enterprises, a public relations firm. Kirschner is an active member of the Board of Directors for the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce; is the president of the Corporate Resource Alliance; and is on the Board of Trustees for the Family Planning Center of Ocean County. She is also an active member of the Kimball Medical Center Foundation Board of Trustees. Stankowitz is the executive director of the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce, and has been a lifelong advocate for both the chamber and the township of Lakewood. Stankowitz serves on the Executive Board of Directors of Preferred Behavioral Health and sits on the Executive Board of the National Council for Community Behavioral Health Board. She is an active member of the Jersey Shore Council Boy Scouts, a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore, and is also a member of the Monmouth Ocean Development Council. Dalsey, chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Kimball Medical Center, along with the EMA staff, was also honored with a Humanitarian Award. Dalsey has worked in the Emergency Department at Kimball for more than six years. He also serves as vice president of Quality and Patient Safety for Emergency Medical Associates; he has developed emergency medicine residencies at the Joint MilitaryMedical Command and Albert Einstein Medical Center; developed several basic and clinical research programs; and founded the Ohio Young Physicians Section of the American Medical Association and has served as its president. |
