Safety Fair to offer lifesaving training to county families  
Fair to be held Sunday 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Ocean Township High School
Children throughout the county are faced with dangers in their communities every day, Monmouth County Sheriff Kim Guadagno said. To help families be proactive in keeping their children safe, Guadagno and the Sheriff's Office are joining forces with Greater Media Newspapers for the Monmouth County Family Safety Fair to be held Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

JACKSON — With Jackson schools back in session and more than 9,800 students traveling to and from school every day, police are asking motorists to take extra care to obey laws regarding school buses. "Motorists should be aware of how concerned we are in the Jackson Police Department about the safety of our children," Jackson Police Sgt. Russell Scialpi said.

Club members deliver lots of school supplies  
JACKSON — When it comes to "Mama knows best," the MOMS Club of Jackson West really knows best of all what to do. Last week the club members donated 75 backpacks filled with school supplies to the Jackson Food Pantry. The supplies were given to children whose parents use the services the food pantry provides.

Lakewood NAACP gathers for annual Freedom Fund banquet
James Waters, 66, of Lakewood, grew up in the middle of the civil rights movement that occurred in the United States in the 1960s. Waters, who is black, can reminisce about his visits with relatives in the southern United States and can speak about sitting in the designated "colored" section of restaurants.
